Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency the site which features video and posts analyzing the portrayals of females in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and an American feminist media critic. She is the author and executive director of Feminist Frequency which is an education non-profit website that explores representations of women in pop culture narratives. Destroying stereotypes about women are the main goals of her work. But, she also highlights issues related to targeted harassment against women online and other minorities who have been excluded. A graduate in political and social thought at York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaking engagement and has given talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender identity and feminism from at an early age, she created her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the university. The ambitious lady planned to create a web series on gender-based representations in video games. However, she was the subject of an online harassment campaign. However, the attacks did not dissuade her. She was only able to strengthen her position as a journalist who is feminist. She has won numerous awards for her numerous notable contributions to the field of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media journalist. She is also the founder and director of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational group that focuses on pop-culture depictions of women.
