Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family and volunteering in the community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. They grew up on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. Also, they won 2 national titles. He received a third scholarship in 1975 and selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned his degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week during his time at college. After graduation, he moved to Tampa and played nine seasons for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his professional career. The first position he held was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the top 10 young men in the country. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6'2 inches. While he was in for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Florida's sports department as the associate director. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
